Juicy Patties

Did you know that Tastee patties are passe and that the most popular patty in Jamaica now is the Juicy patty? I had a taste of a beef and a chicken Juicy patty on my JA trip. The crust was very good and the filling tasty, but there seemed to be a lot of filler used to stretch the meat. They also sell a nice variety of down home Jamaican meals.

Zimmie?

For the uncool and the un-initiated, the latest Jamaican slang/hip saying is "Zimmie", derived from"you see me?-meaning "do you understand me?".
The inflection is also important - the tone being lower on the second syllable of the word. Heard it a lot on a recent trip to JA.
Ciao!

Do we have Bombay mango trees in South Florida?

As the summer comes fully upon us, I am yearning for a taste of some nice Jamaican mangoes, especially a Bombay. Oh, to take my spoon and scoop the sweetly flavored succulence of ripe Bombay mango flesh from a neatly halved, tree-ripened, hand-picked and unbruised fruit; or to pulverize a ripe Bombay to pulp, then make a hole in the skin and suck mango nectar to my hearts content.......Ambrosia!
Guess I have to pay a visit to Jamdown to enjoy these gastronomic delights, as I have never seen Bombays in South Florida. Have you guys? If so, do tell!

How is Alpha doing in sports?

Does anyone know how our alma mater is doing in sports? Have any of our girls been involved in Olympic trials? Would be nice to highlight any major achievements in this area.
Ciao
